Hello, hello! After a break from regular posting for over a year, I am so ready to get back into this wonderful community, both as a reader and as a writer. Life is very different for me now, but at the same time, I still hold very similar interests and values to what I held when I shared my first post in 2013. You can expect a weekly post from me with topics ranging from everyday life updates, motherhood, and travel, including tips for traveling with a baby. In the meantime, I thought I’d catch you up on some of our life highlights during 2018 and 2019.
- We had our first baby, Carson Joel Abernathy, on April 24, 2018. I announced his birth in this post and shared his six month photos in this one. He is now 15 months old!
- I took a seven month maternity leave that I am so grateful for. I shared my thoughts in this post before returning to work part-time at the end of November 2018.
- Carson has had so many firsts already that I am not able to list them all, but here are a few –
- First trip – Fredericksburg for Daniel’s first Father’s Day in June 2018
- First time on an airplane – Chicago in July 2018
- First Halloween –
- First Thanksgiving –
- First time pulling up to standing – Christmas Eve Eve 2018
- First Christmas – We were in New Mexico in the snowy mountains with my family.
- First steps – January 23, 2019 (9 months)
- First time officially walking – February 26, 2019
- First Easter –
- First birthday –
- First day of daycare – July 31, 2019 (We had a part-time nanny before.)
- We dedicated Carson at our church on November 11, 2018 in front of our church congregation and family.
- We purchased our first house in February 2019 and have so enjoyed our first few months settling in and making it a home.
- Carson turned ONE (cue all the tears!) in April 2019. I had a big party for him with a Winnie the Pooh theme and lots of friends and family.
- We took family photos for Carson’s birthday.
- We have done a fair amount of travel since Carson was born. Below is a list of where we’ve traveled, not including some local trips, visits to my parents’ and in-laws’ homes, and work trips:
- Chicago in July 2018 (Carson’s first flight)
- Nashville in August 2018
- San Diego in September 2018 (first baby-free trip)
- New Mexico for Christmas with my family in December 2018
- Atlanta in May 2019 to visit my cousin’s family
- Savannah and Hilton Head in May 2019 for our 8th anniversary (baby-free)
- NYC in July 2019 (baby-free)
- Colorado in July 2019 for a wedding
